I Did It! I figured out how to use Bitcoin. I am downloading Bitcoin Core Wal. but have not used it yet. I have never used bitcoin. While it installs, I installed Electrum on my Mac & bought $4 of bit on CashApp & moved to My Wallet on Electrum. I lost like 11cents on $4.13. It there a cheaper way?
I'm wondering how one would restore a wallet that was made from a BIP39 seed to a Bitcoin Core wallet? Bitcoin Core does not use BIP39. So I presume you'd have to provide it the master private key.. but what is that exactly? Because on Ian Coleman's BIP39 utility website.... it shows BIP32 Root Key, Account Extended Private Key, and BIP32 Extended Private key... they are all different... which one would work to use in Bitcoin Core? How would one backup their Bitcoin Core wallet private key? Is there an applicable mnemonic? Or is it just the private key? Does Core work with QR codes? (Reading and Generating?)
I setup with Electrum and read how to sign (approve) transactions without plugging in my hardware wallet to the computer directly. But I also saw the option to export my wallet's setup to Bitcoin Core. I'd rather use a full node than depend/trust someone else as is the case with Electrum. I don't see on YouTube or elsewhere how to go back and forth between my hardware wallet's SD card and Bitcoin Core on my laptop to sign transactions. Can anyone point me to rhe self-help how-to resources for this, please?
TL&DR: What is the simplest way to exit money from Iran to Europe (legally!) using Bitcoin, now that there are US sanctions? Hello, A friend of mine (not at all interested in Bitcoin for speculation/investment) has asked me about Bitcoin for the following reason. He is originally from Iran but he moved to Europe (France and Switzerland) about 40 years ago. He recently got some money in Iran thanks to some heritage. However, due to US sanctions, it's not possible at the moment to simply sell the money, convert to EURO and receive the money in his EU bank. Thus he had this idea to circumvent sanctions (1) somehow buy Bitcoin in Iran with local currency (2) sell the bitcoin in Europe. So my questions are two, and I'd be very grateful if any Iranian fellow, or anybody with experience, could help: Q1: what is the simplest way to get (relatively high amounts of) bitcoin in Iran using money currently staying in a Iranian bank (as opposed to cash)? Do they have something like Coinbase? My friend is quite old and he's searching a simple and secure way to do stuff, even if there are some fees. Not crazy hackerish/technical solutions. Also, he does not live in Iran, as I said, so He needs to do things online and not in the street. Q2: Assuming he gets bitcoins in Iran, what are the procedures (if any) to declare these bitcoin in Europe (France/Switzerland), their source, and convert them to EURO in a "100% legal way"? My friend is not at all interested in breaking any European/Swiss law. thanks in advance!
